The SP8/G Surface Planer utilizes a wide variety of flail type cutters to hammer and impact almost any type of surface. The desired effect is controlled by both flail selection and spacing. Wheels located directly behind the drum allow the SP8/G to cut through high spots and irregularities on slab surfaces. Precise weight and balance enhance operator control and machine maneuverability.

The SP8/G is ideal for milling misaligned sidewalks and joints, and removing encrusted accumulations on floors to improve working conditions and safety. Specially designed tungsten carbide insert flails effectively remove thermoplastic and cold plastic type markings from roadways.

A heavy, welded frame and extra capacity ball bearings make the hard working SP8/G very cost effective and reliable. Other standard features include a screw type, cutting depth control, water mist dust control, fitting and vacuum attachment tube.

The model SP8/E5HP Surface Planer is powered by a 5 hp, TEFC electric motor designed to operate from 230 VAC/60 Hz and 220 VAC/50 Hz power sources. An integral thermal protection switch protects the motor by stopping it in the event of excessive internal heat. Additional features include standard 8 inch wide drum cutting width, full length hexagon driveshaft configuration, dual V belt drive system and high capacity, twin row, sealed ball bearings. A full line of available flail configurations allow the SP8/E5HP Surface Planer to perform multi tasked job functions including: removing traffic lines from floors, reducing trip and fall hazards from floor joints and preparing surfaces for top coat applications.

Powered by a 9 HP, Model 16 Gast pneumatic motor, the SP8/A Surface Planer was designed specifically for a wide variety of cleaning and coatings removal projects on ship decks or other marine and industrial projects where high pressure air is readily available. Maximum free air consumption is stated as 250 CFM at 100 PSI maximum operating pressure. Standard features include: 8 inch wide drum width; full length, 13/16 inch hexagon drum drive; water mist dust control fitting; vacuum attachment tube and extra capacity, double row, sealed bearings. The 5/8 inch maximum cutting depth is controlled by a screw type lever. The unit comes complete with an ON/OFF valve, stub connection hose assembly and integral pressure regulator, air filter and motor lubricator.
